Special needs
London Luton Airport conforms to European standards for the provision of disabled people in airports and the airport has gone to lengths to ensure that wheelchair-bound, hard of hearing, blind and partially-sighted passengers are well catered for. Modern facilities have been installed throughout the airport, although passengers requiring assistance should call their airline ahead of time.
Facilities for the disabled at Luton Airport include: designated disabled persons’ door access to the terminal; adapted and easily accessible toilets; wheelchairs available on request; specially adapted public telephones and special assistance phones; courtesy porter assistance and designated disabled parking spaces in all car parks.
Good facilities and services are also in place for the hard of hearing, with adapted telephones, complete with inductive couplers and touch text facilities, while there are induction loops at the customer service desk, check-in desks and various information points throughout the terminal building. The customer service counter may also be able to assist blind or partially sighted passengers.
