Heathrow Terminals and airlines
London Heathrow Airport is the world air hub for international travel and is served by most of the world’s airlines, while also being the home of British Airways. There are four terminals at the airport, with terminals 1, 2 and 3 located at the centre of the facility and the newer Terminal 4 on the south side of the grounds, which is connected to the other three terminals by a free train service. Terminal 5 is currently under construction and will be solely for the use of British Airways. Facilities for passengers at Heathrow Airport are superb, with an abundance of shops, restaurants and travel-related services making the airport comfortable for passengers.
Terminal 1: is the busiest terminal at Heathrow Airport, serving 25 million passengers and dozens of airlines. Terminal 5: will be used solely by British Airways, who currently operate at terminals 1, 2 and 4. The new terminal is due to open in 2008 and will cater for an additional 30 million passengers a year by the time it is fully operational in 2011, increasing the airport’s capacity to well over 90 million passengers a year. The inclusion of Terminal 5 really make London Heathrow Airport the world’s biggest airport. It will provide a massive car park, hotel and a dedicated motorway spur from the M25 ring road. There are also plans to build a sixth terminal in the future.
