Newcastle International Airport conforms to standards set by the European Union for mobility assistance, with access for wheelchair users available throughout all public areas of the airport. Disabled parking spaces are available as well as an induction loop system, specially designed toilets and telephones, and boarding assistance on request.
Careful consideration has been given to the needs of wheelchair users in the design and layout of the airport's interior, allowing for complete access to all raised and lowered areas via the use of ramps and lifts. Restrooms designed specifically for accommodating wheelchairs can be found throughout the terminal. Low level telephones for wheelchair users are also on hand. Disabled passengers with special requests should inform their specific airline prior to their arrival at the airport or call the airport on: +44 870 122 1488.
Passengers with hearing impairments can make use of the airport's induction loop system, which allows them to keep up-to-date with important flight-related announcements. The airport normally employs at least one information desk employee who is capable of conversing in sign language.
For blind passengers, the airport permits guide dogs to enter the terminal building and airlines generally permit them to accompany passengers on flights by prior arrangement. However, both airport and airline should be contacted and informed prior to your arrival at the airport.
