Newcastle Airport Information (NCL)
Situated just over six miles northeast of the city centre, Newcastle International Airport is one of the country's oldest airports, having been open since 1935. While not the busiest airport in England, it still sees annual passenger figures in excess of three million and provides an essential gateway to the far northeast of the country. A single terminal handles flights to national, EU and transatlantic destinations.
Newcastle International Airport offers a good selection of business facilities, with two business lounges in the Departures area offering telephone and fax facilities, and a dedicated business centre on the first floor, with a more comprehensive selection of amenities and services. There are a total of three bureau de change counters on hand, while ATMs can be found in various places in both Arrivals and Departures. Lost property and left luggage counters are available as well as baby-changing rooms, a children's play area and a prayer room. Postal services are also on hand.
Ground transportation between the airport and the city is excellent and includes bus services that connect with Eldon Square Bus Concourse, which run at 20-minute intervals throughout the day. The city's Metro system also provides a connection between the airport and Newcastle Central Station and Gateshead, with services operating at intervals of only seven minutes during the day. Meanwhile, taxis can be found outside of Arrivals and are ideal for passengers seeking door-to-door travel.
