Special needs
In terms of facilities for passengers with special needs, Southampton International Airport conforms to EU regulations by offering easy access for those with impaired mobility, designated parking spaces, specially designed toilets and special assistance on request.
Southampton Airport's single terminal accommodates wheelchair users, with ramps between areas of differing gradients and lifts between floors. Adapted toilets for wheelchair users are readily available, while low-level telephones are also on hand. Reserved seating areas equipped with special facilities are also available for passengers with special needs. Wheelchair users requiring assistance in travelling between the car park and the terminal can request it by calling the airport on: +44 870 040 0009.
For those with hearing impairments, there are induction loops in the reserved seating areas and around the terminal, which are indicated by the 'sympathetic ear' symbol. Public telephones throughout the terminal are adapted for use by passengers with hearing aids. Furthermore, there are text phones situated in the Departures lounge and on the main concourse.
For the visually impaired, airport signs are printed black on yellow for maximum contrast. Guide dogs are freely permitted into the terminal. Shopping assistance for the blind and passengers with other special needs is available by calling: +44 121 410 5105.
